onemillionphotographers is a global online gallery project and a real-time photography competition. Every image submitted is assigned its own permanent Gallery space whilst at the same time competing with other images in a live competition judged by fellow Gallery users.
Submissions are invited any of the eight image categories: Landscape, People, Nature & Wildlife, Abstract, Travel, Architecture, After Dark and Reportage.
Published images are each showcased in their own permanent Gallery space, identifiable by unique location coordinates and available for others to view, “like”, rate or download. Ratings, “likes” and downloads score points in the onemillionphotographers competition, and photographers earn revenues from downloads of their work.
Contest Prize & TERMS
PRIZE DETAILS: There are US$20,000 cash prizes for the winner of each Category and a US$150,000 grand cash prize for the overall winner.
There is also a US$30,000 young photographer’s prize for U21s and a US$30,000 amateur prize for the best photo by a non-pro. As well as the points-based awards, there are also three Judges’ Choice awards for the top images selected by the 1MP judges.
Top-scoring images will be published in a stunning onemillionphotographers hardcover coffee table book and may also feature in one or more onemillionphotographers exhibitions or digital publications.
Additional monthly non-cash sponsor prizes to be announced.

COPYRIGHT: 1MP acknowledges that User is the author of the image in each Entry and retains full ownership of the copyright in each Entry. 1MP makes no claim on the copyright of the images in User Entries.
USAGE RIGHTS: By submitting work to the Gallery and Competition, each User acknowledges and agrees that 1MP and its Sponsors may use Entries for the purposes of promoting the Competition, the Gallery and the Website. Each User hereby grants 1MP an irrevocable, royalty free, non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide licence in each Entry in any and all media for any use connected to the promotion of the Competition, the Gallery and/or the Website including, but not limited to:
(a) displaying the winning Entries and selected highest-scoring Entries at potential exhibitions promoting the Gallery and organised by 1MP;
(b) publication and public display of screen resolution images and thumbnail images of Entries on the Website and its sub-pages (including by means of any tablet or mobile device applications produced by 1MP), in electronic newsletters produced by 1MP, on pages operated by 1MP or any Sponsor on SM Sites, on third party sites, in connection with internet search results and within any materials promoting the Competition, the Gallery and/or the Website;
(c) publication and public display within Sponsor websites, third party sites, electronic newsletters or any other media used by the Sponsors in connection with the promotion of the Competition, the Website and the Sponsor’s involvement in such capacity;
(d) reproduction of selected highest-scoring Entries in 1MP books or magazines, in digital or print form;
(e) inclusion within emails circulated by 1MP to Users promoting the Competition and/or the Gallery;
(f) sub-licensing Entries to the press for reproduction in connection with the Competition, the Gallery and any exhibition or publication;
(g) the judging of the Competition;
(h) allowing viewers of the Website to view images on a computer screen, internet-enabled television screen, tablet or other mobile device for their personal, non-commercial use only.
All Entries published to the Gallery (or via any other media organised by 1MP) shall credit the relevant author User. Any failure to provide author credit shall not be a breach of this provision, provided that 1MP has used its reasonable endeavours to rectify such failure within a reasonable period of time from the date 1MP was notified or became aware of such failure.
Neither 1MP nor any Sponsors will be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with any use described in this Clause
