The competition is free and open to all. For the first time this year, you can win great prizes: a motorized head and Nodal Ninja gear. This competition is unique in the panoramic world: the selected photos will be published in a book (Kolor Panobook 2012), which will be available to the selected contributors at special price.

Photos should document human suffering and the health care response to the following topics: HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, measles, tetanus, diabetes, cervical cancer, infant and maternal mortality, chronic and infectious diseases. Also of interest are health issues surrounding disaster relief, healthcare worker safety, healthcare access, vaccination and diagnostics research, infection control and Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI’s).

Working relationship.Best photograph demonstrating the relationship between a member of Trust staff and a Hawk Conservancy Trust bird of prey.

Flora and fauna. Best photograph of the wildflowers, shrubs, plants, trees, insects, mammals and wildlife around the grounds of the Trust (excludes birds of prey).

In the wild. Best photograph of a wild (non-captive/non-Trust) bird of prey taken in its natural setting.

Young Photographer. Best photograph in any category, taken by an under 16 year old.

The contest aims to encourage and disseminate knowledge about birds, while at the same time inspiring creativity in the art of photography. To these ends, its focus is on photography that is ethical, grounded in the utmost respect for the conservation of birds and their habitats, and without unnecessary digital manipulation.

This month’s theme is ‘Childhood’ and we want to see what it means to you and what it could mean to your children. You can take pictures of anything related to childhood and children.

We want to see creativity and clever use of the theme.Take this as a chance to re-spark those old childhood feelings and memories!

Two entries are allowed per member!

We are asking photographers to submit old or new work that illustrates the interdependence between humans and water. The subject matter for the photos can vary widely, so we suggest focusing on a narrow niche within the water theme. A few examples are water parks, bottled water, dirty water, how much water Americans use on a daily basis, floods, droughts, etc. There are a lot of angles for you to take this topic and we are just as excited about seeing water issues in India as we are in Ohio. Wherever you live shoot what is relevant to your life and what excites you most.

The result of Project Water will be a fine art coffee table book that will be sold with 100% of the net profits going to water.org and blood:water missions to help with the global water and sanitation crisis. The book will be juried by a, to be determined, panel of judges. The book will also be professionally designed.

JUROR:
Krzysztof Candrowicz is a founder and the director of Lodz Art Center and Foundation of Visual Education in the city of Lodz, Poland. The foundation started the International Festival of Photography in 2001 and is now preparing the eleventh annual celebration for 2012. As a director and chief curator of this event, Krzysztof established an association of 30 European festivals of photography, called PHOTO FESTIVAL UNION. The organization is responsible for common activities of European photo events, such as annual meetings, publications, photographic exchange and common promotion.

The exhibition is open to all photographers world wide, both amateur and professional. The Center invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate in its exhibitions.

Exhibit Prints: All accepted images submitted for exhibition must be printed and framed or mounted professionally. The Center recognizes that some work is non traditional and incorporates the framing as an integral part of the presentation. To encourage participation by photographers from around the world, the Center offers optional economical printing and framing services. Additional details will be provided upon request.

Acceptance Notice: Everyone who submits will receive an email notification of which images were accepted. Accepted images will be posted on the Center’s website along with instructions for the gallery presentation.

The competition closes on 6 January 2012 and the winners will be selected by our expert panel of judges and have their image displayed in the windows of our shops across the UK.

A selection of winning and highly commended photos will be featured in the Independent on Sunday at the end of January 2012.

The categories

Adults: Open to amateur and professional photographers who will be 16 or over on the closing date. £10 entry fee.

Students: Open to all students aged 16 or over undertaking full or part-time courses at a UK-based college or university. You must supply the name of your college/university as part of the registration process. If selected as a winner you will be required to provide proof of your student status otherwise you will be disqualified. £5 entry fee.

Junior: You must be aged 15 or below on the closing date of Sunday 6th January 2012. You must obtain your parent’s or guardian’s permission before entering the competition as part of the registration process. £5 entry fee.

Photographers of all ages and levels are invited to submit colour or black & white photos that depict the unique character of the NSW Central Coast – its people, locations and lifestyle.

Each entry will be individually judged based on the following criteria:

• Artistic merit of the image;

• Technical competency of the image;

• Photographic quality of the image;

• Photo taken within the NSW Central Coast region; and

• Adherence to the theme of “interpreting the uniqueness of the NSW Central Coast region – its people, locations and lifestyle”.

A well-established, independent and reader-supported photography journal currently celebrating its 25th year of publication, SHOTS Magazine reaches an international  community of photographers, educators, galleries, museums, collectors and other fine art photography enthusiasts.

Whether it’s iconic images of ‘once in a lifetime’ events that you just happened to capture because you were in the right place at the right time, or simple images of subjects that surround our everyday lives (and that many of us forget to take the time to fully appreciate) we want to see them!

MONO will be published in 2012 by Gomma Books Ltd. MONO will be a collection of the most talented black and white photographers from around the world. Emerging artists will be showcased among the masters of monochrome photography.

This is a real opportunity to be part of an extraordinary collection of monochrome imagery. Each photographer will be introduced and credited appropriately. Production quality is paramount -The book will be litho printed (off-set) – also please note this is not a Print On Demand production. MONO will be distributed worldwide.

Selected Photographers will be notified in February 2012.

All artists who enter are exhibited in the show with a size limit of 80x80cm (including framing), and a maximum of 5 entries per person. Photographs can be any theme or subject and can be unframed or framed.

The exhibition will be on show at BSG from the 10-20 October with formal announcements at the opening on Friday the 14 October between 6-8pm. Judges are Stephen Nall, former manager of Dickerson Gallery, art consultant and director of the Dark Horse Experiment; Christie Robertson, photographer, manager and representative from the Digital Camera Warehouse, and Mark Jamieson, DIrector of Brunswick Street Gallery.

Processing of each photo must be done on a mobile device, no desktop computer editing is permitted. You may use any photo editing application of your choosing as long as said application runs directly on your mobile phone device. All images not shot on a Mobile phone or iOS device will be disqualified. All prize winners will be required to submit raw images for verification.

Only one photograph may be submitted per participant. The Image Park Internal Selection Team would select 50 photos for nomination for the finalist round which would lead to prize categories.
Image requirements: minimum 1200pixel by 1600 pixels and file size must be from 500 Kb to 1.5 Mb only. HDR, sepia tone, and duotone image is not eligible. Manipulation of image should be kept at a minimum (such as saturation, contrast, auto contrast, auto level, auto color). No border or frame may be added to image. No watermark, signature, or copyright notice may be added to image.

All photographs entered should use an alternative photographic process, such as albumen, anthotype, argyrotype, carbon, chrysotype, cyanotype, bromoil, gum bichromate, gumoil, infrared, kallitype, vandyke, platinum/palladium, photogravure, polaroid lift, transfer and sx-70, salt print, temperaprint, vandyke, wet plate collodion, ziatype and other alternative photographic processes. It is nice if the work has been completed within the last 2 years, but not a must.  What not to enter No digital, c-prints, or gelatin silver prints, pinholes, unless of course they are combined with an alternative process, lumen are fine. All subject matters apart from nudes acceptable.

There is no general theme to the competition for the first second and third prizes, any photo can be entered.

Photographs of European nature – wildlife, plants, landscapes and details , man & nature, man’s impact on nature (positive or negative). Photographs must be photographed in the wild of non-captive wild beings and not digitally manipulated at all. Digitally manipulated photographs will be automatically disqualified.
