3 top photographers from the UK and USA will judge the best entries and award prizes of photographic equipment to those in 1st,2nd and 3rd place giving your passion a boost, and gaining you recognition for your photography prowess.

All photos must be less than 2 years old. Settings can be urban, wild or remote in a choice of colour or monochrome. We are accepting entries from around the world.

The competition is free and open to all. For the first time this year, you can win great prizes: a motorized head and Nodal Ninja gear. This competition is unique in the panoramic world: the selected photos will be published in a book (Kolor Panobook 2012), which will be available to the selected contributors at special price.

The British Wildlife Photography Awards were established in 2009. The key aims of the Awards are to:

• Recognise the talents of photographers practicing in the UK, while at the same time highlight the great wealth and diversity of Britain’s natural history.
• Celebrate British wildlife, in all its beauty and diversity, through a collection of inspirational photographs.
• Showcase the very best of our nature photography to a wide audience and engage all ages with evocative and powerful imagery.
• Encourage discovery, exploration, conservation and enjoyment of our natural heritage.
• Raise awareness about British biodiversity, species and habitats.

Entries must have been taken in the United Kingdom of Great Britain Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.

Images can be of native or migrant wild species. Also non-indigenous wild species that reside permanently in the UK. British wildlife subjects photographed in a studio setting or a captive environment are eligible provided this information is supplied when submitting images. Exotic wildlife photographed in British zoos, safari parks or similar locations, and domestic pets are not eligible.

Why not try some macro work or HDR? Try shooting a black & white landscape or how about playing around with slow shutter speeds? As we said, there’s plenty to have a go at and anything goes so long as it fits the theme.

The prizes will be presented to the winners at Focus On Imaging 2012. However, if you can’t make Focus don’t worry; you can still win one of the prizes.

The “Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award” competition is open to any (prospective) professional photographer aged 25 or under at the time of entering. To take part, participants must send in a series of photographs taken in 2011 or 2012 or long-term projects containing at least one photo from 2011 or 2012. Only one entry per photographer is accepted.

There are no restrictions on how the image is produced, as long as it is original work either specifically for the competition or from the photographers back catalogue.

100 images will be selected for a week-long exhibition at the Mall Galleries in the heart of London and winners in the five categories (expression/environment/memory/disorientation/perspective) win £500 with £3000 going to the overall Renaissance Prize winner. There is also a special Calumet Prize for the best image taken on film.

Renaissance is run by volunteers and all your entry fee goes to support younger women with breast cancer.

All selected images will be reproduced in a full colour catalogue which all entrants receive. The Exhibition will open in the City of London in July 2012 and will tour the UK for a nearly a year. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to sell copies of their prints

For the RPS category you can submit up to 4 prints on any subject matter. If a print is submitted for the Allen and Overy Award this must relate to the theme of Change. A text box is provided on the entry form for a brief explanation of how your print relates to the theme.

Only images clearly reflecting the theme “Reflections” will be considered for the competition. All photos submitted that are not representative of the specific theme will be removed.

Contestants will share a photoshoot with the world and teach how they created their unique image or video in a behind the scenes format. The contest will be judged by some of the leading professionals in the field including Vincent Laforet, Chase Jarvis, Scott Kelby, and Stacy Pearsall .

Winners must pay shipping/taxes for their country if outside the United States

They will have the opportunity to experience new and exciting cultures and attractions as they compete to earn the title of Canon-Better Photography Photographer of the Year 2011. As the grand prize, the winner will receive a Canon EOS 7D, among other exciting prizes.

Better Photography and Canon will appoint a panel of judges to determine the winning images. The parameters will include vision, composition, exposure, technique, message conveyed and the overall appeal of the image.
